One Day Trip In Orphanage

This is my first off-campus trip after arriving in Peninsular Malaysia. On this day, I visited an orphanage and did volunteer work. I came here because my friends needed to complete a task assigned by their course instructor, which was to visit an organization and interview them. Although I didn't quite understand what they needed for their interview, I was happy to help. I took this opportunity to experience volunteering at an orphanage.

Upon arriving at the orphanage, called the Home for the Care of the Disabled and Orphans (ShanDaiWelfareHome), the children greeted us very warmly. In terms of age, there were children as young as 1 year old and as old as 13. At first, I felt a bit awkward and uncomfortable, but later my friends and I started to slowly try to integrate with them and play with them.

Well, my experience is that raising children is quite challenging. Regarding communication issues, I needed to try to communicate effectively with the children in ways they liked. Fortunately, later on, I managed to play with them.

One child who left a deep impression on me is a boy named Liu Ming Xuan. He is the oldest among the children and the easiest to communicate with. So we started to get acquainted and found out that he was surprisingly talented. He not only had insightful views on badminton but also played the piano fluently and perfectly. This is a famous song from the anime "Demon Slayer" that he performed. The song is called "Kimetsu No Yaiba."

By the way, here's a heartwarming scene to share - it's a snapshot taken by a friend who volunteered with me. Oh my god, it really looks like a family portrait with the four of them! Hahaha😂! This is definitely a precious memory worth cherishing.

In the end, happy times always pass quickly, and it was time for us to go back. As we were preparing to leave, the children were very disappointed, and of course, we were reluctant to leave them too! After a day of being together, we all have plenty of memories of each other. One of the children tried to stop us from leaving. Seeing this scene, I was actually very touched. Although we were reluctant to leave, we really had to go. We will always cherish these memories and if we have the opportunity, we will definitely go back to visit. I hope that when that time comes, we still remember each other.
